McCann finds Tony Wright sleeping rough on a bench, yet learns that he owns a house just around the corner. His curiosity leads to an investigation by Pearce of the Irish roofer, Samuel O'Rourke, who has targetted Tony, depressed and alone, for large weekly payments for roofing work he never carried out.
